The kids learned many interesting things about
dinosaurs who once roamed our continent. Students wrote both fiction and
non-fiction stories about dinosaurs. They used dino stamps to illustrate
their pictures.
Our largest project involved letting the children select
the team they wanted to be on to do a dino-sort.
The kids sorted
dinosaurs by certain characteristics. We had bipedal and quadrupedal sort
on the left and Method of Locomotion on the right.
Students had to consult the Dinosaur Fact File or research
for information in books at the Science Center.
Students need to know
where and how to locate information.
Method of Locomotion
Predator or Prey
Carnivore-Herbivore-Omnivore
Bipedal or Quadrupedal
Five teams worked on the Dino Sort
Project. They were excellent PeaceBuilders! They worked together to
classify the same set of pictures in five different ways.
It was so good to hear the discussions that
were going on at each group when making the decision of where to place the
dinosaurs.
Which period in the Mesozoic Era?
Triassic-Jurassic-Crestaceous
The kids created DINORAMAS and
wrote a report about their favorite dinosaur over holiday break.
They did such a great job!
The children who returned their work by the
deadline received a ribbon for their added effort. The dinoramas
are currently on display in our library!
